Don't Overpay for a Kia Oil Filter -- Here's What One Costs to Replace on Average

Every 3 months or 5,000 kilometers -- that's how often you should change the oil in your Kia. If your oil pump's stressed, you've probably let it go too long. Of course, if the pump bearings are worn out, too, and you've got oil pressure loss, you're way past due. Oil warning light on the dash? Take care of it now. Most importantly, replace your oil filter also.

That'll run you $35 to $200 CAD on average. Notice a bigger bottom line than usual? On the one hand, it's because of the Kia model you drive. On the other, it's because the car, SUV, or van you love runs on something other than conventional motor oil -- synthetic, for instance, or a synthetic blend, or high-mileage. Another reason: you generally flush and replace the oil and swap in a new filter at the same time. Yet another reason: other parts might need replacing; oil coolers for Kia Optima, for example, can run between $625 and $650 CAD, while oil filter adapters generally go for only tens of dollars.

We'll save you money either way. At Canada Kia Parts, our oil filters are not only genuine OEM but also steeply discounted. Changing one is fairly easy to do, too. All the job takes, besides the know-how, is an oil drain pan, fresh engine oil, a pair of work gloves, filter and socket wrenches, and a mallet. Just be sure to start with a warm engine. Important: follow your owner's manual. It'll have both the specifics of the replacement process and what kind of oil your engine should get.
